INSTRUCTOR AT CABAIR'S OFT RECOGNISED AS MASTER CFI
This year has been a good year for Cabair Instructors winning awards: First Rod Brown of Denham School of Flying becoming AOPA's Instructor of the year, then Ray Watson of Biggin Hill School of Flying was awarded a Master Air Pilot Certificate by The Guild of Air Pilots and Air Navigators. Now it's the turn of our overseas affiliates:
Sven Samson at Orlando Flight Training has been recognised by the FAA training industry and has achieved a distinction only 700 instructors in the whole of the USA have achieved.
The Master Instructor designation is a national accreditation recognized by the FAA. |

Candidates must demonstrate an ongoing commitment to excellence, professional growth, and service to the aviation community, and must pass a rigorous evaluation by a peer Board of Review. The process parallels the continuing education regimen used by other professionals to enhance their knowledge base while increasing their professionalism.
Designees are recognized as outstanding aviation educators for not only their excellence in teaching, but for their engagement in the continuous process of learning - both their own, and their students'. The designation must be renewed biennially and significantly surpasses the FAA requirements for renewal of the candidate's flight instructor certificate.
Master Instructors LLC takes pride in announcing a significant aviation accomplishment on the part of Sven Samson, Orlando Flight Training's chief flight instructor and a resident of Sanford, Florida. Recently, Sven's accreditation as a Master CFI (Certificated Flight Instructor) was renewed by the Master Instructors LLC Board of Review, the international accrediting authority for the Master Instructor designation as well as the FAA-approved "Master Instructor Continuing Education Programä." He first earned this national professional accreditation in 2005 and has held it continuously since then.
To help put this achievement in its proper perspective, there are approximately 93,000 CFIs in the United States. Fewer than 700 of them have achieved that distinction thus far. The last 14 national Flight Instructors of the Year were Master CFIs while Sven is one of only 65 Florida teachers of flight to earn this prestigious "Master" title. In the words of former FAA Administrator Marion Blakey, "The Master Instructor accreditation singles out the best that the right seat has to offer."

WW11 Fighter Pilots Veterans Reunion Day12 September 09 – Cranfield University
Cranfield University in conjunction with Cabair College of Air Training organised the veterans reunion day at Cranfield. There were around 35 veterans, all of whom had trained in the USA before returning home to join one of the airborne squadrons, as fighter pilots, during the Second World War.
Cabair had secretly arranged for some vintage aircraft from Old Warden, to perform a fly past before landing, and giving the veterans a chance to meet with old friends, the Ryan PT22 and the Harvard. Read the full story here. |

RADIO ONE VISITS CCAT
Scott Mills has the daytime Radio One slot of 4-7pm. He regularly challenges one of his colleagues - Becky - to carry out a difficult task. This time it was to fly a jet plane.
So Cabair College of Air Training - the home of Cabair Integrated - played host to the wannabe jet pilot Becky and let her loose on the Citation Jet Simulator which trainee airline pilots use during their commercial pilot training. The results were impressive...almost! See the video here. |

If they then decide to upgrade to an honors degree, this can be achieved following a further year of study via distance learning with the university.
This is a totally unique programme and has taken a considerable amount of time and effort by staff at the university to achieve accreditation of this course.

CCAT LAP OF SILVERSTONEOn 3rd June, Silverstone Race Track saw a new team on the grid – and it wasn’t Brawn GP! The Sales and Marketing team from Cabair College of Air Training (CCAT) are normally signing up budding airline pilots for their First Officer Direct Integrated ATPL course at Cranfield.
However, on this sunny June evening they were treading the tarmac usually reserved for the likes of Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton as they did a sponsored run around the circuit in the ‘Race for Life’.
Keren Caird, Calise Mole and Morgan Perry have now raised £500 for Cancer research and were just three of thousands of women, all wearing pink, who walked, ran or used wheelchairs to conquer the famous British circuit.
